The ASCO Cancer Foundation(R) Earns Highest Charity Navigator Rating For Second Consecutive Year
For the second year in a row, The ASCO Cancer Foundation achieved Charity Navigator’s coveted Four-Star rating. Of the more than 5,500 charities rated, only about 1,000 have received back-to-back four-star evaluations at least two years in a row.
Charity Navigator is America’s largest and most utilized independent evaluator of charities. Their rating system analyzes two areas of a charity’s financial health to award an overall rating – how responsibly it functions day to day and how well positioned it is to sustain its programs over time. The purpose of the rating is to show givers how efficiently the Navigator believes a charity will use the giver’s donation. The ASCO Cancer Foundation’s four-star rating signifies that it consistently exceeds industry standards and outperforms similar charities in providing funding for cancer research and education.
“As the nonprofit sector continues to grow at an unprecedented pace, savvy donors are demanding more accountability, transparency and quantifiable results from the charities they choose to support with their hard earned dollars,” said Ken Berger, President and Chief Executive Officer of Charity Navigator. “This exceptional designation from Charity Navigator differentiates The ASCO Cancer Foundation from its peers and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of their trust.”
Nancy R. Daly, MS, MPH, Executive Director of The ASCO Cancer Foundation confirmed, “Many donors have told us they contributed to the Foundation because of our Charity Navigator rating. Particularly in these economic times, we take pride in making every dollar count and continue to strive for efficiency and impact when we recognize people have many places they could choose to support.”
Through its exceptional grants and awards program, the Foundation encourages and promotes research at every professional stage, from the best and the brightest among young investigators to senior researchers providing mentorship opportunities for the next generation of oncologists. The Foundation’s ultimate goal is to improve the prevention and treatment of cancer worldwide.
