St. John Health, one of the largest health systems in southeast Michigan, seeks an immediate BE/BC Surgical Oncologist to join a well-established, multi-disciplinary team of specialists in metro Detroit area.
The chosen candidate will serve as an integral member to our oncology network growth, and work in collaboration with physicians and surgeons from a variety of disciplines, such as breast cancer, rectal cancer, head and neck cancer, lung cancer, medical oncology, radiation oncology, and others.
The Surgical Oncologist will practice at St. John Hospital & Medical Center in Detroit (a 804-bed regional teaching hospital), and St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital in Warren, where you would be the first fellowship trained surgical oncologist on the hospital staffs.
A full-spectrum of on-site ancillary services specifically designed for cancer care is available at the Van Elslander Cancer Center (on campus at St. John Hospital & Medical Center) and Webber Cancer Center (on campus at St. John Macomb Oakland Hospital).
The position offers a competitive compensation package with flexibility to structure under employed or private practice model depending on candidates preference.
St. John Health is affiliated with Michigan State University School of Medicine and Wayne State University School of Medicine. The position offers an opportunity to do some teaching, since both hospitals offer accredited training programs in general surgery and various other primary care and surgical disciplines.
Qualifications include:
- Completion of training in an accredited general surgery residency program.
- Completion of training in an accredited fellowship program, a plus.
- Board certification in general surgery required.
Postgraduate training in a cancer institute or university-based program under a mentor known for cancer surgical expertise.
- Preferred concentration of surgical practice on cancer and related diseases, and demonstrated experience with or activity in clinical investigative trials and protocols.
