Job Description:
A full-time position is available for a Specialist Radiation Oncologist to join a busy Oncology and Haematology team consisting of 4 Medical Oncologists, 3 Radiation Oncologists and 3 Haematologists. The service is based at a 450-bed teaching hospital associated with a medical school and provides a tertiary Oncology service to 300,000 people in the Otago and Southland regions of New Zealand.
The position has the opportunity to be either a 12 month locum term or a permanent position
The service has three linear accelerators (Varian 21EX, Varian 21iX both with OBI, the latter with CBCT) and a 600C. Other equipment includes a Pantak ortho-voltage unit, Radionics stereotactic system, and Impac patient management system.
Treatment simulation is performed with a Philips Accolade 16-slice CT scanner and broadband access to CMS Focal. CMS XiO provides treatment planning for 3D conformal and IMRT.
The department provides the national service for stereotactic radiation treatment.
Skills Required:
You must have or be eligible to obtain vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. Remuneration and terms of employment will depend on experience and qualifications.’
