Job Description
The Manager of Radiation Oncology acts under the direction of the Executive Director to supervise and coordinate all operational activities of Radiation Oncology throughout the organization. Acts as the representative for the department in all administrative matters, including hospital committees and other liaison roles, as delegated by the Executive Director. The Manager of Radiation Oncology shall assist in the development of departmental policy, operational and capital budgets and radiation technical training and cross training programs.
Projects an image of professionalism in communication, appearance and conduct. Supports the Radiation Oncology mission. Participates in the continuous quality improvement process. Maintains a working knowledge of departmental standard operating procedures. This knowledge may include the use of specialized instrumentation, Quality Control requirements, and preventive maintenance. Performs other duties as assigned.
Desired Skills & Experience
REQUIRED
Bachelors Degree in Healthcare Administration or equivalent experience is required.
Must have a minimum of eight (8) years experience as a Radiation Therapist
Must have five (5) years progressive management experience.
Experienced in all technical phases of the Radiation Oncology Department.
Must possess excellent communication skills.
PREFERRED
Ten (10) years experience as a Radiation Therapist
Eight (8) years progressive management experience.
REQUIRED
Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required.
Strong knowledge base of responsibilities and essential functions Physicists and Dosimetrists perform.
Deep knowledge of IT systems (for billing, coding, sequencing).
Extensive knowledge of revenue cycle management for radiation oncology.
Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to multi-task.
Familiar with the following equipment: HDR, IORT, IMRT, Cyber Knife, and Gamma Knife.
Broad scope knowledge of regulator and safety requirements for Radiation Oncology.
Constant technical and operational change is inherent in the Radiation Oncology business at Hoag. This requires a high level of flexibility, adaptability and mature judgment on the part of radiation oncology management. Perforce, the Manager of Radiation Oncology will be drawn into unanticipated activities and deeply involved in a myriad of unscheduled, non-routine projects and performance improvement efforts. The Manager of Radiation Oncology is expected to have the capability and flexibility to successfully incorporate these activities into the daily workload.
Demonstrates effective communication, interpersonal skills, organizational ability, knowledge of proper body mechanics, safety measures and infection control, ability to follow instructions, knowledge of section specific test information and instrumentation may be required.

Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT)
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-R)
